Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's recent swipe at Justice Muhammad Kamil Awang is totally unwarranted and tantamount to contempt of court and obstruction of justice. By doing so, the independence of the judiciary is once again threatened.

Is there an insidious motive at play here, like trying to clip the judiciary's wings again? I dread to think that there could be a conspiracy to cover up for Eusoff Chin's actions or the person who directed the former Chief Justice to make that sinister call.
