In response to Ho Mun Wah's letter, 'Nanyang issue exploited' (June 20), I - and I think a whole lot of other people in the Chinese community - could not care less whatever Chua Jui Meng or Lim Ah Lek's motives are. You could accuse them of being political opportunists, or just being plain troublemakers, but at least what they're doing is in the interest of the Chinese community.

I don't mind being a sacrificial pawn; it's their political future on the line anyway. So, to Chua Jui Meng and Lim Ah Lek, I say: Way to go and hang in there. You two have my vote if you pull this off.

Why has no one raised the question of a referendum? I say the Chinese community goes to vote on whether the MCA gets to buy and keep Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press. MCA is not supposed to say no because its sole existence is supposedly based on this noble idea that it exists to serve the needs of the Chinese, right?
