I am referring to the report 'PAS sticks to plan to shut down casino' (June 19). As a Chinese, I've come to accept that gambling is already embedded deep in the veins of my community. Both my parents are avid 4D number punters, never missing out on the prospect of winning big money come every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

Somehow, it seems that I'm slowly following in their footsteps as I find myself inching towards 4D shops on some occasions.

What I would like to put across is that the money spent so far can never justify the meager amount won over the years. It seems that only the gambling syndicates are the winners, big time, indeed.

I've seen others who pour thousands of ringgit into the coffers of gambling outlets every month when that money could be put to more beneficial use. It saddens me that most gamblers and punters are Chinese.

Therefore, the only way to stop this ill, is to nip the source in the bud. Here is one Chinese that strongly supports PAS' stand on shutting down all commercialised gambling activities in the country and ridding the 'Chinese Gambling Culture' for good.
