Is the MCA takeover of Nanyang Press Holdings part of the agenda to divert the people's attention away from the controversy about non-Bumiputra top achievers being denied seats in local universities?

The controversy has disappeared from the front pages, columns, letters, etc. of the local media.

Instead of addressing the issue, our Chinese leader Dr Ling Liong Sik has instead made a 'great' effort in defending the present meritocracy-based entry to private colleges and universities.

Let us all Malaysians ask ourselves these questions:

Would we prefer a less qualified educationist to teach our children?

Would we prefer to have less qualified pilots to fly us around the country and overseas?

Would we allow a less intelligent surgeon to operate on us or our loved ones?

We have spent so much of taxpayers' money on education.

Now just think carefully what will happen to Malaysia if we keep on accepting lower-grade professionals.

Let us be realistic on what direction we want for Malaysia to follow as we enter the developed world.
