I would like to draw the attention of the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to the fact that a renowned local chain of Chinese restaurants is having a Shark's fin promotion at the moment.

Conservation groups all over the world, even in Singapore (if you've seen the ads discouraging people - particularly the Chinese - from eating shark fin on TV, you'll know what I'm talking about) are denouncing this horrible practice.

Now many of you may not know that the shark's fin fishermen lop off the fin and throw the sharks back into the sea to die.

Is that really necessary? What I want to know is, have there been any studies conducted to prove that shark's fins are at all beneficial to our health? But in any case, why cause the animal so much suffering?

Only recently, the Asian Conservation Awareness programme was launched, using the help of celebrities like Jackie Chan to help spread the message of not eating products from endangered animals.

Anyway, I would like to know if MNS and WWF are at all inclined to do anything about this sad state.
