Reading out from a prepared statement at a packed press conference in Parliament this evening, the embattled deputy premier reiterated that he had never met or knew Altantuya.
He dismissed the statutory declaration filed by private eye P Balasubramaniam, who was hired by Najib's close associate Abdul Razak Baginda to deal with the Altantuya problem, as "concocted" claims.
"I see the statutory declaration as a horrible lie, fabrication, malicious, slanderous and to tarnish my image.
"This is a very desperate attempt made by Anwar Ibrahim to divert the attention from the sodomy allegation that he is facing," said Najib.
"The people want to know whether the sodomy case did happen or not. I hope the authorities will investigate and announce the (investigation) result as soon as possible," he added.
Balasubramaniam's statutory declaration was revealed by Anwar, the PKR de facto leader, at a press conference this morning. Najib and Anwar have been on a warpath on the matter since last year.
Asked on whether he had sexual relationship with Altantuya as stated in the statutory declaration, Najib answered: "No, absolutely not."
On whether he conspired or attempted to cover up the murder, Najib reiterated: "No, absolutely not because I never, never met her at all."
‘Life goes on as usual'
Reiterating that it will be sub judice to discuss the case as it was still pending in court, the deputy premier also said he will leave it to the authorities to take action on the contradictory statements between the statutory declaration and what was tendered in court.
Asked on whether he would submit himself for an investigation, Najib retorted: "Why should I be investigated? Give me one good reason. The police have investigated the entire Altantuya case, they know everything."
On whether he would take any legal action on the latest claim, he answered: "I will let the police to take any action but I also have the right as a citizen."
Najib also said "life goes on as usual" for him when asked whether he was concerned with his image within the Umno leadership with this latest claim.
"I am very relaxed about it, as you can see, I am still smiling. I am not worried because the truth will prevail and I believe in the system.
"I believe that I have not done anything wrong, therefore there is nothing to be worried about, and life goes on as usual. As far as I am concerned, it is business as usual," he stressed.
Saiful came to my house
In a surprise twist to another of the political scandals gripping the country, he admitted meeting with a young man who has accused Anwar of sodomy.
Najib admitted meeting 23-year-old Saiful Bukhari Azlan a few days before he lodged a police report against Anwar Ibrahim, accusing the PKR leader of sodomising him.
"He came to my house because he needed my help because he was so traumatised," Najib told reporters in Parliament. "I wasn't even sure if it was true or not.
"I suppose he needed help, and he knew one of my officers. That's all. He looked like he was in fear."
He stressed that there was no conspiracy involved in the police report as being claimed by Anwar.
