DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang today said Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak should go on leave until all questions implicating him in the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu are resolved.

Following the shocking revelation made by private investigator P Balasubramaniam in his statutory declaration where he directly link Najib to the murder, Lim said the deputy premier’s credibility has been put to question.

najib tun razak 030105"Najib should go on leave from his duties as DPM until all questions implicating his credibility, especially arising from the statutory declaration by Balasubramaniam, are investigated and cleared.

"Balasubramaniam's statutory declaration challenged the truth and veracity of various statements and denials by Najib in connection with the murder Altantuya in October 2006 – that Najib had not known or ever met Altantunya," he said in a statement.

Balasubramaniam was hired by political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda to ‘handle’ Altantuya, who had apparently come over to Malaysia in 2006 to settle some issues with Abdul Razak.

The analyst, a close associate of the deputy premier, and two others are currently on trial for the murder of the Mongolian national.

This morning, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim revealed the statutory declaration by Balasubramaniam.

Among others, the private investigator stated that Abdul Razak had been introduced to Altantuya by Najib at a diamond exhibition in Singapore.

He also claimed that the deputy premier informed Abdul Razak that he had sexual encounters with Altantuya and that she was partial to anal intercourse.

lim kit siang 02Lim said Najib and Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi cannot allow Balasubramaniam's shocking statutory declaration to go unchallenged as it raises doubt over the credibility of those holding high political posts in this country.

He also said that the revelation would bring back Malaysians to the emotional scene at the Kuala Lumpur magistrate's court on Nov 16, 2006 when Abdul Razak was charged for abetting the murder of Altantuya and his wife Mazlinda Makhzan shouted at journalists claiming her husband was innocent.

Parliament should also take immediate attention of this development and have a debate, he urged.

"Unless Abdullah can act promptly to assure the Malaysian public that the government is prepared and capable of responding swiftly, credibly and responsibly to the crisis of confidence in the government precipitated by the statutory declaration (it must be debated in parliament)."
