I have been following Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Dr Rais Yatim's career for some time and had been very impressed by his clear principled views especially when he was a member of the opposition in Semangat 46. I have attended quite a number of his ceramahs in which he spoke out strongly against oppression by the government especially in the use of ISA against dissent. Was this an academic exercise as well?

Why the 180-degree turn just because he is back in the government? Where are the principles he had so fervently expounded before?

I am sure many of us are very disappointed with him as we thought that he could work within Umno to change it to a better and more open party.
