Rosmah Mansor, the wife of Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, today denied that she had any links with the death of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.

rosmah mansor pc 010708 04"The innocent have nothing to fear. I have nothing to say and I have already given my statement to the police," she told reporters in Kuala Lumpur.

"I am not a politician and I am not running for any post. I am just a wife of a politician," she added.

This was her first response to a recent claim by popular blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin that the deputy premier’s wife was at Altantuya's murder scene, along with a bomb expert and his wife.

Rosmah also indicated that she will not be pressing charges against Raja Petra over the allegations.

"I do not want to address unnecessary issues. I have many other bigger things to attend to for the people and the nation," she said after launching a conference on children's book publishing at the Putra World Trade Centre.

Rosmah stressed that the accusations did not bother her and added that "there is no need to address all this, if you are innocent".

'Total lie'

Last week Najib also denied his wife's involvement in the case, adding that the police had taken a statement from her.

The deputy premier brushed off the allegations as 'garbage' and stated that Raja Petra’s statutory declaration was a 'total lie' intended to pollute his political career.

Raja Petra made these explosive claims in the declaration filed on June 18. The police had said that they are investigating the matter.

In the declaration, Raja Petra stated that Rosmah were present with two others at the scene of Altantuya's murder on Oct 19, 2006.

According to the statement, the two individuals were identified as Colonel Aziz Buyong, referred to as 'a C4 expert' and his wife Norhayati, who is also said to be Rosmah's aide de camp.

However, Rosmah said Norhayati was not her ADC.

"She was not my ADC in the first place. She was just an officer who helped arrange my programmes," she said.

Rosmah added that Norhayati was no longer working with her and was promoted to the Defence Ministry.
