Action may be taken against blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin if the attorney-general finds that there are elements of libel against the government in a statutory declaration made by him on June 18.

raja petra police 020508Federal CID director Bakri Zinin said the allegations made by the editor of the Malaysia Today website in the declaration were very serious.

"Investigations are ongoing and we have recorded several statements, except from one person. We are waiting to take further action," he said in a Bernama repo

Following RPK’s declaration, police have recorded statements from Rosmah Mansor, wife of Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak, and Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is also expected to give a statement as his name was mentioned in the declaration.

In the declaration filed at the High Court here, Raja Petra named three individuals, including Rosmah, who he claimed were present at the scene where Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu was murdered in 2006.

Raja Petra further claimed that Khairy had in his possession a military intelligence report on the presence of Rosmah, bomb expert Col Aziz Buyong and his wife, Norhayati, who is an aide to Rosmah, at the place where Altantuya's body was blown up.

Meanwhile, Aziz and Norhayati have filed a law suit against Raja Petra demanding for an apology to be published in a number of websites and national newspapers.

The duo are also demanding that the statutory declaration be removed from Raja Petra's blog and other websites as well as damages of RM1 million.
