New Straits Times highlighted Sabah Progressive Party (Sapp) president Yong Teck Lee as a double crosser after the party announced that two of its parliamentarians would push a no-confidence vote against the Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi next week.

The Star meanwhile headlined Sapp's turnabout in loyalty to be a decision orchestrated with the help of PKR's de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim when both parties' leaders met in Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur to settle the deal.

TheSun also reported on Sapp's loss in confidence in the premier's leadership and added that their action further fuelled speculations that the Chinese based party will soon leave BN.

TheSun also featured the possibility of a by-election in Sanglang state seat which was won by BN assemblyman Abdullah Hassan after the Election Court declared the seat vacant following a petition filed by Hashim Jasin of PAS who sought the court's decision to declare him victorious.

Bahasa Malaysia newspapers

Berita Harian also led with Sapp's decision in expressing loss of confidence in Abdullah and dubbed the party leader Yong Teck Lee a traitor. The daily also cited Yong's past betrayal to Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) which led PBS to its fall in 1994.

Utusan Malaysia meanwhile headlined BN's sworn allegiance to the premier lest the motion of no-confidence is proposed in the House when the parliament resumes sessions on Monday.

Chinese newspapers

All Chinese Newspaper front-paged Sapp's loss of confidence against the prime minister.

Tamil newspapers

Malaysia Nanban led with the motion of no-confidence mooted by Sapp against Abdullah.

Tamil Nesan and Makkal Osai reported on the Sanglang state seat which was declared vacant by an Election Court yesterday.

New Straits Times praised Law Minister Zaid Ibrahim on his suggestion for judicial reforms and suggested the task be handed to those "who can mete out justice with requisite of competence".

Berita Harian opined that the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) should be more proactive in heeding competitions organised by private companies with the element of gambling as it is banned in Islam.
