If MCA goes against the will of the Chinese community, and takes over Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press, it will certainly suffer its greatest loss in the coming general elections. Also, by creating ill-will in the journalistic community, MCA is courting more trouble for itself and its image.

Journalists like James Wong Wing On, once freed from the mainstream media, will be like, as a Chinese proverb says, "Tigers going back to the mountain and jungle." Without the constraints posed by the realities of the commercial world, these people in the know could attack MCA and Barisan Nasional even more vocally in the cyberspace, or in international forum. What if Wong returns to DAP, or writes or speaks for BA?

As a MCA member, I hope the leadership would make wiser decisions with longer-term interests of the party and BN in mind.
