As a Chinese veteran in Malaysian politics, I would like to share with you my profound insights into the taking over of Nanyang Press by MCA.

I applaud the government's attempt to suppress deviant and undesirable opinions from being published. I would encourage the government to consider taking over Sin Chew Jit Poh and certainly malaysiakini. Such a brilliant move would certainly strengthen Barisan Nasional's position in the coming election.

The current dissent displayed by the Chinese community can safely be ignored. Past experience has shown that our Chinese community leaders will always come to their senses to avoid doing anything that may jeopordise their business interest. It has been proven that the Chinese public will always forget past disappointments and Chinese political leaders are ever ready to sell out when the price is right.

All the government needs to do to regain support from the Chinese is to offer some 'goodies' to the community just before the election, say like, a promise to make TAR college a university. This needs only be an empty promise. After the election the government can safely retract the promise and proclaim that it is a necessary ploy to win the election and that the promise could not be fulfilled (under the pretext of preserving racial harmony).

A community that does not emphasise principles and self-respect like us Chinese, needs strong leaders like Dr M to train us on how we should behave before we are misled by all the lies propagated by the uncensored media.

Five thousand years of Chinese wisdom tell us it is always wise to roll over and serve the top dog in power, and never the renegades.
