Twenty years ago, when Malaysians were arrested and tortured under the Internal Security Act (ISA), it was acceptable. And if a dog was tortured it was okay, too.

Today, when Malaysians are arrested and tortured under the ISA, it is still acceptable. However, if a dog is tortured it is absolutely unacceptable.

What has gone wrong? Our papers make headlines of cruelty to animals, but cruelty to mankind deserves no mention.
