I write in response to Eileen Kong's letter, 'Paper takeover by MCA? Big deal!' (May 23).

Our constitution ensures that everyone in this country has the right to speak and the press has the freedom to report the news. However, these freedoms are not being implemented fairly.

The major media today are all controlled by the government. I think that if the major local newspapers and TV media could be entrusted with the task of fair dissemination of real information to the public, the opposition parties would not have to waste their resources and energies to publish their own newspapers. Like what MCA's Lim Ah Lek said, we, the majority who need more freedom, do not like MCA to control Nanyang.

We can't stop MCA from buying Nanyang; however, MCA can't stop us from getting the real information, too. In this IT world, we can make use of technology to look for the truth.

I am not a member of any political party. I am just an ordinary citizen who wants a fair, clean, and efficient government for my beloved country.

I do not want my EPF savings to be used to save Time dotCom.

I do not need a luxurious Putrajaya as the administration centre while my poor neighbour still can't afford to send his child to college.

I do not want my MP or Adun (state assembly representative) to come to my kampung to inspect the bridge; I want them to stay in Parliament all the time to speak out for me.

I want my primary school teacher to be paid more. And I want many more. So, I need Nanyang to tell MCA my requests. If Nanyang can't do it in the future, then I will just turn to Sin Chew.
