Naturally, it is not surprising nowadays to read reports in Malay dailies, which have strong racial overtones such as the one on Lim Kit Siang ('Kit Siang rebuts Malay daily's editorial', May 18). It seems that the real issue which is the problem of high achievers not being able to secure university admission have been twisted and manipulated by some quarters so that it now appears racist.

For this Kit Siang, some vernacular newspapers and at least one English daily are jointly responsible. By taking a fiercely anti-bumiputra stand in pursuing this issue, Kit Siang and others are playing a very dangerous 'game', for the law of science has clearly stated that, if there is a force than certainly there will be a reaction.

Once and for all, let's get to the real issue and discuss it openly without any racial prejudice.
