I am referring to the opinion by Susan Loone, 'Craftily crafting statue misquotes' (May 17), a pathetic attempt to justify the unjustifiable.

The recent misunderstanding concerning the fate of religious statues in a PAS-ruled nation does indeed look like an MCA 'ploy' aiming to discredit this so-called Islamic party. But if this is true, then we should thank MCA, as the rakyat (Muslims as well as non-Muslims) have the right to hear the final word from PAS on these matters.

Ever since the beginning of the collaboration between PAS and DAP, PAS has always been hypocritical: saying one thing to Muslims, and then the exact opposite to non-Muslims (an issue of Harakah quoted PAS as saying that it would never stop aiming for an Islamic nation while in the English language section, a DAP leader tried to assure the non-Muslims that PAS would stop insisting on that point.)

It seems that PAS is now trapped: On one side, we have Muslim fundamentalists who would not allow any compromise on Islamic principles, and on the other, we have non-Muslims, who fear for the 'lives' of these statues.

I would like to remind you that in Islamic history, Ibrahim, the father of prophets, destroyed statues in order to prove that they had no power. Later, right after the conquest of Mecca, Prophet Muhammad imitated this practice by destroying all the idols he could find there (so much for the "for you, your religion; for us, ours" thing, don't you think?).

Message to PAS supporters: When the time will come for you to take over the leadership from the 'evil' Barisan Nasional, aren't you going to imitate Muhammad by reproducing this symbolic event of Islamic triumph?

Now, to the writer, let's face the facts:

1) PAS is strong, but not strong enough to beat BN alone.

2) What it needs is support from non-Muslims (this is sooo ironic), this is where DAP comes in.

3) PAS is now using DAP (along with Keadilan, etc.) in order to weaken the support for the ruling party, BN, which used to be the only form of cooperation among the three races.

4) When BN gets weak enough to be defeated by PAS alone, the hiding puppet masters in PAS will emerge to remind its supporters of the true goal of the party (Islamic nation) and how it is sooo un-Islamic to fight side by side with the kafirs (infidels): PAS will then end all inter-party cooperation and revert to the one party that it was.

5) In the absence of strong support for BN, the votes will be highly scattered and the victor of the elections will be the one which used to be second best... none other than PAS.

6) PAS will then apply BN-like techniques in order to remain in power. (Freedom? Is that what you expect from a party that clearly supports death sentencing for those innocent Muslims - by birth - who would like to change their religion?)

I'm not asking you to just believe me - seek in your heart (and mind) and you shall find truth.
