Matthews words taken out of context

Just Another Evangelical ('Best left to God', May 9) says that the "leaders in the NECF are knowledgeable and reasonably logical enough" to invite Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to open the World Evangelical Fellowship meeting.
Not too long ago, many Catholics thought that their Church leaders were wise and knowledgable enough to do the right thing vis-a-vis Hitler. To err is human, and leaving everything to our leaders is not the kind of thing that Christ would recommend. Otherwise, He wouldn't have defied Rome and gotten crucified at Golgotha.
The injunction not to judge others (Matthew 7:2) is taken out of context. Christians and people of other religions should learn not to cite scriptures without sufficient reflection.
