As a Christian and a National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF) affiliate church member, I read with concern An Ashamed Evangelical's letter entitled 'May God forgive us for our silence' (May 7).

The writer, presumably my fellow Christian brother or sister, must think he or she would be most noble to point out some of the shortcomings of the NECF from a political or human rights point of view.

Although I do agree that there has always been conflicts of interest between the area of religion and many other aspects of our human lives, the 'grey line' is best left to be what it is; and any attempt to draw a clear line on who is forthright and who is worthy of doing such an act or not is best left to God for judgment.

Surely our leaders in the NECF are knowledgeable and reasonably logical enough to have made this decision of inviting Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to open the august meeting of the World Evangelical Fellowship - so please avoid bringing up a controversy!

As it is said in Matthew 7:2 - "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you".
