Thank you, Dr Farish A Noor for writing about the Bukit Bintang Girls School ('Another blow to Malaysian history', May 7). His feelings on this matter mirrors that of many Malaysians. If only the authorities can appreciate more the impact of these old school systems, perhaps Malaysia would have fewer social problems relating to their young ones.

Many of the values taught by these old alma maters are missing from the current school system. But perhaps that is too much for the Education Ministry to acknowledge.
