New Straits Times frontpaged government measures to keep the lid on price of rice.

The Star's front page spoke of the Sabah Pressure. It quoted Sabah MPs as saying that insufficient attention was given to the state.

Bahasa Malaysia newspapers

Utusan Malaysia reported that price of rice will be maintained at RM1.65-RM1.80 a kilogram although the price of paddy has risen from RM650 to RM750 a tonne.

Berita Harian also highlighted the ways to maintain the price of rice for the benefit of consumers and farmers.

Tamil newspapers

All Tamil dailies - Tamil Nesan, Malaysia Nanban and Makkal Osai - reported on the government move to maintain rice price.

Tamil Nesan also reported on the earthquake in China which killed almost 10,000 people.

Malaysia Nanban also reported on a memorandum submitted by ISA detainee P Uthayakumar's mother to the government seeking the release of her son.

Chinese newspapers

Nanyang Siang Pau and Sin Chew Daily both frontpaged the 7.9-magnitude quake that shook eastern Sichuan, China, taking away nearly 10,000 lives.

Oriental Daily News led with the MCA ‘snoop squad' inquiry in which allegations have been made that MCA Youth chief and Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai and Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Wee Jeck Seng were part of the spying group.
