It is surprising that few people realised the impact of the new Foreign Investment Committee (FIC) ruling that allows foreigners to buy houses priced RM250,000 and above, in particular on Johoreans.

The standard of living in Johor Bahru is higher than in KL. To own a house in JB is like owning a Mercedes or a BMW.

All people like me can buy are flats in the outskirts of the town. A majority of houses around JB are owned by Singaporean.

I can see it now - Singaporean living in JB but working in Singapore, or Singaporean coming to JB to stay at their second or third weekend house.

In five to 10 years, it's a safe bet that JB will be Singaporeans' second city.
