Amri Rahayat made a good point in saying that racism is everywhere ('Purple or not, racism is everywhere', May 5), and I applaud the admission that the New Economic Policy (NEP) is racist in nature. Mention was made of the "unofficial forms of discrimination" by the non-'purples' against the 'purples', and the point I would like to make here is that all forms of discrimination should be condemned, but what makes some forms more heinous than others is that they are given pseudo-justification by being sanctioned by official authority.

Furthermore, the writer's comment on the generalised stereotyping of the Malays by other communities is, in itself, a sweeping generalisation of the non-Malays.
