Further to the letters on the sons of Abraham, the Bible clearly mentioned Isaac as the son that was to be sacrificed. The Quran does not mention the name of the son but it is assumed by Islamic scholars that it was Ishmael.

The Bible story is the supreme test of faith by God on Abraham whether he was willing to choose between God and his beloved son Isaac (who was miraculously given to Abraham and Sarah when they were in their 90s). Obviously this difficult test has not been given to any other figure in the Bible or to any other person as God never tests anyone beyond his capacity to obey.

The story goes further that God has already prepared a ram to be sacrificed in place of Abraham's son. Christians interpret this as the picture of the Lamb of God, Jesus, who will be sacrificed to take the place of our sins and atone us from our penalty of death.

We only need to have the faith like that of Abraham.
