Frankly, I feel slighted that the editor has decided to publish the letter by My Voice, [#1] Stop the trouble-makers! [/#] (April 24), in spite of the apparent lack of any common sense and fair judgment by the writer.

The use of the words 'idiot', 'stupid', and 'bird-brained' hardly qualifies My Voice to have any right to be heard by the discerning readers of malaysiakini who take the trouble to go online to have an alternative opinion to the banal and inane 'reporting' in our local print and broadcasting media.

In spite of what the write says, the use of the Internal Security Act (ISA) on the nine reformasi activists is a clear signal that the ruling coalition have decided to throw in the towel in the fight to win the hearts and minds of the Malaysian populace.

After all, why argue your case through logical and coherent arguments when you can just lock up your opponents? And while you're at it, why not label them as 'reformasi extremists

to try to justify the arrests?

It must be borne in mind that the government has yet to disclose proof of the arrested activists planning violent riots with molotov cocktails and rocket launchers. No doubt they are counting on the ensuing 'turning-over' and subsequent "confessions' by the activists as 'evidence' for the arrests.

What saddens me is that if these arrests culminate in manufactured public confessions as in previous cases, the Malaysian public will most likely turn a blind eye to everything, as before. Sadder still is that there are still people like My Voice around trying to justify this injustice.

My Voice boldly said: "Some may condemn the ISA but who cares what they say." To be honest, I can't see why we must care for what My Voice has to say.
