I have been visiting your site for a while and was quite impressed up to now; I think the editor has made a mistake in allowing the Rentakkini article [#1]Suicide - Life's ultimate challenge[/#] (April 20) to be published.

The article, in brief, encourages suicides and makes a hero of a person who commits it. And it cannot come at a worse time (see the front page of The Star newspaper on Saturday about the woman who killed herself).

And the sad truth is that most, if not all, people who commit suicide are cowards, not heroes, in one way or another. They were just escaping from facing up to their problems and the hard and painful work that they require to be resolved.

I think malaysiakini should retract this article at once and apologise for their gross carelessness in publishing it in the first place.

Editor's note: If you read carefully the tone, content and conclusion of the article, you'll see that its intention is quite opposite of what you think. By provoking readers to think about death, the article is glorying in life and reminding us to live life to the fullest.
