New Straits Times headlined with Barisan Nasional’s investigation into claims that opposition parties are trying to lure BN MPs into joining them.

Allegations are rife that BN members in Sabah have been offered top positions if they are to join the opposition. The opposition alliance only need 30 more seats to attain the simple majority to form a new government.

The Star headlined that ministers and deputy ministers’ declaration of assets will be made for public viewing through the Internet.

Malay newspapers

Berita Harian too chose BN’s investigation into allegations of the opposition luring BN members to defect and join them.

Utusan Malaysia stated that 25 Malay and Islamic NGOs have formed a coalition called the Malay Unity Action Front (BBPM) to safeguard the interests of the Malays in the country.

Tamil newspapers

Tamil Nesan led with the news of Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah offering himself to lead Umno.

The daily also had a report stating that the Johor MIC was in full support of MIC president S Samy Vellu. Previously there were reports that certain Johor leaders had urged for the veteran leader to stand down.

Makkal Osai led with Umno’s new secretary general Tengku Adnan Mansor’s plans to investigate claims of crossovers involving BN representatives to the opposition. The daily also reported on Tengku Razaleigh’s challenge against Abdullah Ahmad Badawi for the Umno top post.
