I beg to disagree with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the 'failure' of the Multimedia Super Corridor in contributing to our economic growth ([#1]MSC failed to help economic growth: PM[/#], March 29). The only 'failure' is that we set our expectations too high.

Any knowledge or skill needs time to accumulate and develop. We cannot expect that a few billion ringgit put into MSC will turn Malaysia into Silicon Valley overnight. The infrastructure put in place now and the knowledge accumulated today will become the base for a bigger dream tomorrow.

We may not be as good as Singapore and Hong Kong today but it does not mean we have totally failed. The spin-offs from MSC projects will be felt only years later.

Maybe we should pay more attention to the development of human resource to staff MSC. How about spreading MSC to other states like Johor in the South and Penang on the other end and make MSC really borderless and stateless?
