In this election, voters will have to be cruel in order to be kind to our leaders, ourselves, and our nation. Malaysians must be wise enough not to be inadvertent enablers of corrupt and incompetent leaders. We must get rid of the rattlesnakes among our leaders before they bite us. If Malaysians were to continue on with ‘business as usual’ with this election, then we have only ourselves to blame. It would not be the fault of the rattlesnake if it were to bite us back, as surely it would.

Yes, good leaders are an endangered species. Malaysians, we do not wish to be taken for a ride with sweet words. We voted a regime based on a wave of goodwill who promised us a clean efficient and fair government. We were on a high with a government who won with a thumping majority. Our hopes were raised. We were going to have it good since we gave BN a handsome mandate.

But that majority has given them leeway to abuse power that has made them so inflated, so drunk with excesses that has drained the country's coffers to the effect that they said they can no longer continue with oil subsidies. It has probably been used to pay for excesses in white elephant projects that had no material benefit for the rakyat.

Yes, they fooled us in that they have sent a man to space, whoa! we are a space power now, we can walk tall. They fooled us that we were highly rated in good governance in the eyes of the world and at the same time they slammed the ISA on those who spoke up for the marginalised lot.

You fooled us once but you don't fool us all the time. We have had enough. It's time for a change. A change for fair policies, a change whereby the rights of the minorities are safeguarded and a change whereby we can walk the streets without fear of being mugged in dark corners.

We want a dynamic police force who can work effectively to combat crime. We want a clean judiciary who uphold the rule of law without interference from the executive.

We want a nation whereby we can list our race as a Malaysian and not be known by colour or race or religion. We want to be known as true sons and daughter of the soil who have equal access and opportunities for advancement in the fields of education, business and other areas based on merit and capabilities.

This should be a Malaysia for all Malaysians. Why do we still live divided and not united?

Malaysians, the power is in your hands. Vote for a better Malaysia for us, for our children and our children's children.
