My apologies to Justice Shaik Daud

I refer to my letter in which I made some comments regarding Justice Shaik Daud Md Ismail's tongue-lashing on the judiciary ([#1]Retired judge regrets too late[/#], March 28).
I had the good opportunity this morning of being informed by a very trustworthy and reliable source in the judicial service that I have been mistaken in my comments regarding Yang Amat Arif Shaik Daud. I was informed that he has in fact put his neck on the line several times and as a result was 'ostracised' by several influential people, but all these instances were of course not reported in the Malaysian media.
Just like this reputable news site that is big enough to admit its mistakes, I wish to follow suit and stand corrected. Therefore, I would be very obliged if you could print this letter and offer my sincere apologies for my unjustified comments to YAA Shaik Daud and that I retract my earlier letter.
And I also wish to make clear, lest anyone should think otherwise, that I was not pressured to make any apologies or retract my earlier comments. I was just not informed enough before making my comments and so I wish to set the record straight.
