As much as I would like to commend Legal Correspondent for stating the obvious, that the executive and judiciary are separate entities ([#1]Cabinet has no right to decide on Anwar[/#], March 23), is it not a bit naive of him to find the judiciary, as far as Anwar Ibrahim is concerned, no longer independent? We are talking about Dr Mahathir's Malaysia, aren't we?

Apart from anything else, the fact that the Deputy Prime Minister had to interfere with the medical treatment of Anwar, a convicted criminal as far as the judiciary is concerned, strongly suggests that he is a political prisoner.
