BN all set to capture Permatang Pauh
Barisan Nasional (BN) is confident of capturing the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat and the Permatang Pasir state seat.
These were won by PKR and PAS respectively, with a slim majority in 2004.
Kelantanese must be realistic
The Kelantanese, especially PAS supporters, must be realistic to know that PAS is now unable to rule effectively because the state is heavily in debt up to RM1 billion.
BN’s Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin said the state coffers are close to being bankrupt and will not be able to formulate development strategy to ensure the future of the younger generation.
"In five years time, there will be no development if PAS continues to rule the state,” he said.

Johor confident of retaining seats
State BN head Abdul Ghani Othman sees no problem in retaining the Skudai and Bentayan state seats because the candidates are ‘capable’.
Despite the drop in the majority in the 2004 elections compared to 1999, BN can retain both seats this time, he said.
He was confiident that Chris Lee, BN candidate for Bentayan (in the Bakri parliamentary constituency), will have no problem winning.
Party supporters told to behave
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ismail Omar said supporters of rival political parties should control their emotions and behave in a mature manner to prevent any untoward incidents.
He advised them to go through the proper channels, such as lodging a police report, if they were unhappy over something.
“Don’t take matters into your own hands or get carried away by your feelings. We have laws in this country, so you can lodge a complaint or report and the relevant authorities will take action,” he said.
IGP leads police team to cast postal votes
Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan led some 83,000 police officers and personnel nationwide in casting their postal votes today.
The IGP led the 4,000 officers and men from the Bukit Aman contingent in casting their votes as they will be on duty on Saturday.
“We have some 83,000 registered voters in the police force who will be casting their votes in their respective districts and contingents nationwide,” he said.

Sabah CM: We’ve done a lot
Sabah BN head Musa Aman has urged voters not to fall for the opposition’s allegations that the government has failed to settle serious problems like the issuance of forged identity cards.
Musa said it was wrong to accuse the government of failing in its duties and stressed that the authorities are constantly conducting crackdowns on illegal activities.
"We have done a lot, and those who were found guilty (of issuing fake documents) have been convicted. We admit that it takes time to solve some issues, but we never give up on doing so. The authorities keep on taking action and we solve problems one by one,” he said.

Election flyers strewn all over the road are causing an environmental hazard in various areas.
According to NST, a Canadian tourist, who wanted to be known only as Rick, watched in disbelief as a group of people in a white Proton Wira dumped A4-size fliers out of their car window from Setiu all the way to Batu Rakit - leaving a 70km paper trail on the road
The flyers feature Jertih candidate Idris Jusoh (BN) and Rhu Rendang candidate Abdul Hadi Awang (PAS) side by side with a caption above it that reads: Siapa Hebat? Siapa Kuat? Siapa Tokoh Pilihan Anda? Mari Mengundi melalui SMS (Who's great? Who's stronger? Who's the candidate of your choice? Lets vote via SMS).

BN’s Islam is better than PAS’ version
Deputy BN head Najib Abdul Razak said the coalition’s development of Islam encompasses every aspect and is free of empty promises.
He said although BN and PAS both practice Islam, the former’s approach is more realistic and able to advance the Muslim community to international recognition.

PAS denies members have joined Umno
Kubang Kerian PAS has denied that 200 of its supporters in Pasir Tumbuh have defected to Umno.
Deputy division chief Ustaz Abdul Rahman Yunus said that a member, Abdul Salam Ismail, who alleged led the PAS supporters to join Umno was never elected as the secretary of that division.
The person involved was only party vice-president Husam Musa’s secretary when he was Kubang Kerian parliamentarian.
“Salam has stopped assisting Husam because of (Salam’s) monetary problems which (involve) the party’s funds and allocations to parliamentarians,” Rahman said.
He said Salam has long told residents that he will join Umno because of that scandal.
