DAP's Malim Nawar state seat candidate Keshvinder Singh has warned the MCA to stop its ‘personal attacks’ against him and warned of legal action against its members.

The embattled lawyer has been caught in the crossfire between the MCA and DAP top brass who have been engaged in an all-out war in the Kinta Valley for the past week.

MCA secretary-general Ong Ka Chuan yesterday highlighted bank officer Kamil Bakhtiar Baidzowi's claim that Keshwinder had, with "malicious intent", caused an error to a tenancy agreement in which he is a beneficiary.

Last November, the Bar Council had fined Keshwinder RM10,000 over the clerical error, for which the lawyer was held responsible.

Ong said that, by not appealing against the ruling, Keshvinder had admitted to misconduct. He also criticised DAP for allowing a candidate of questionable credibility to stand for election.

"How will a representative effectively represent the people of his constituency when he is incapable of defending his own rights?" Ong asked.

‘Issue resolved’

Keshwinder, however, explained that the complainant who had brought up the matter did not suffer any monetary or other damages, as it involved a technical matter that has since been rectified.

"I don't know why the MCA is going all out to try and make me look like a big criminal," he said

Keshwinder warned that he will take legal action against MCA politicians and news organisations that have claimed that he does not have a certificate to practise law.

"I've got all the documents with me. How can they say that? I have to take action after the election as my reputation has been affected by these people," he said.

On Saturday, Keshvinder will take on newcomer Dr Chai Song Poh in the Malim Nawar state seat, which falls under the Kampar parliamentary seat.
