Hello, we are already 'paying the price'
I refer to the Malaysiakini report If you don't vote MIC, 'prepare to pay price'.
I am astonished at BN’s fear factor attempts. Perhaps this is their last effort to install fear and get the support on those who are unsure on who to vote. However. this bold advertisement itself indicates a denial of the state of affairs and the numerous pleas from the Indians in this country.
Just in case no one’s noticed we have been ‘paying the price’ for the last 50 years. We have been paying the price for being complacent, for being trusting and for being respectful of the BN government.
We have been paying the price of being ignorant. We are out of our shells now. Many of us voted blindly for the BN all these years. Now, it’s not about what BN is going to do anymore but it is about rectifying the huge damage BN has already done to save our beloved nation.
There will be an enormous burden placed on the opposition when they form the government. Imagine having to deal with long-standing and existing tribulations involving the judiciary, the police force, the civil service and the political state of the nation and of course, all the corruption.
The new government’s first task would be to put right the status of the judiciary, the executive and the legislature. They must be independent of each other and there must be transparency. This is the only way to establish integrity within the system again.
It must also preserve our constitution that enshrines our rights as citizens and not allow it to be manipulated. Oh, what a state our constitution has come to. The principles that guided our lives has been run over, trampled, cluttered and is in a state of refutation. Over 600 amendments have taken place in the past 50 years.
The new government must once again install respect amongst all the different races in this country for the various religions and not to sweep things under the carpet. The ability to practice true freedom of religion is one of our constitutional rights.
It will also have to deal with education, the economy, the crime situation and enhancing national unity at all levels
The new government has been left a huge burden but for this they would have the assistance of the entire nation who so a change for after all it is a government by the people for the people. Many talented professionals, knowledgeable academics, meticulous, credible, reliable, young and principled individuals await your appointment to bring about these changes.
This elections is not about which parties will win and come into power - it is about what the people want and what they don’t want.
