I refer to MGG Pillai's [#1]Bloody early warning signal[/#] (March 12) article. I would like to correct him on his statement that Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad didn't visit the Old Klang Road area after the community clashes last Thursday. Mahathir did, on Saturday. This was reported in the government-controlled media, ie; New Straits Times (March 11) and TV3 (March 10 during the 8pm news).

I'm surprised that such an experienced journalist as Pillai would make an error in his reporting. Didn't he check his facts before publishing this article? Malaysiakini keeps emphasising that they believe in the truth. So this wouldn't be the writing I expect from malaysiakini.

As such, please make sure what the readers read are facts. Do not provide RTM with another round of ammunition to shoot malaysiakini. I've been an avid reader of this site, and would like to continue being one. Irrespective of the Soros issue, Earth Summit, etc., I believe the malaysiakini team are doing a good job. At least, I have a neutral avenue to keep in touch with goings-on. Keep up the good work and be careful in your reporting in future.

Editor's note: With regard to the news report referred to by the writer, the prime minister commented on the incident from Putrajaya and not Old Klang Road. So MGG Pillai did not get it wrong.
