With reference to S Nair's letter, [#1]Red herrings and other fallacies[/#] (March 10), which asked where I was when those other crimes against humanity took place amidst very little protest, for starters, I've not seen any lively exchanges on malaysiakini over the continued sanctions against Iraq or the more recent attacks against it, as well as the present embargo against Cuba.

To answer the second question, I have repeatedly posted my criticisms of the Nato imperialist attack against Yugoslavia beginning March 1999 to multiple individual recipients and to other discussion lists both local and foreign.

These lists such as Sang Kancil, Bungaraya, Good friends and Pahlawan were truly free speech discussion lists since they did not filter or edit what I wrote, unlike the Letters section of malaysiakini.

I've also done the same with regard to the embargo against Cuba, neo-liberal and imperialist attacks - such as currency attacks - against Malaysia and Asian nations and I've mentioned about the leftist government in Afghanistan being infinitely better for the people than the president regime.

When I was a student in the UK, I was a member of societies supporting the Palestinian cause.

I've been unaware of the plight of children in Afghanistan until MGG Pillai raised it but I still oppose any solution to the problem which involves intervention by the western imperialists.

With regard to the 1990 Gulf War, I was rather confused about where I stood at the time and I tended to go along with the position that the war was an undesirable thing for the Iraqi people and that the Americans should go after Saddam Hussein and leave the Iraqi people in peace - a stand many liberals typically take. But since then, I've become more aware of the nature of imperialist geopolitical aims in this uni-polar world and have learnt to know when to condemn an imperialist attack against a country based upon its intentions and objectives - which is why I oppose any further western imperialist intervention against Afghanistan, whether military, political or economic.

At one time, I've included many of my forwarded posts on these matters to malaysiakini but they were not published.

Unfortunately, my hard disk crashed about a year ago and I've lost all records of my earlier posts on these matters.

Now I'd like to know where S Nair stood on these issues and what he did with regards to them.
