I refer to the letter Chua's relationship with mistress a private affair.

The writer does not seem to be coherent and her logic is somewhat warped. What about the Chua's wife? You would think the adulterer is a hero just because he said, ‘I did it!’ So what? Do we make a hero out of every criminal who admits his guilt in court?

Compared to VK Lingam, the former health minister's admission of guilt is commendable but let us not get carried away by trying to justify something that is fundamentally wrong. Having sex with someone who is not your wife is called adultery. It is a sin, period. Every civilised society says so.

Saying that it is okay to have some extramarital ‘oochy moochy’ with a person other than your spouse is typical of a horny man whose hormones are out of control. But actually, lust is a state of mind more than hormones. It is not physical thing but more mental and emotional. Women also have sexual desires but they have better self-respect and self-control.

The real hero is the ex-ministers wife. How can the writer make such a ridiculous claim that ‘Chua had no weaknesses?’ How does she know? Some say he is cocky and brusque, is that not a weakness? In the next breath she wrote, ‘He has only had this one mistress - a major mistake of his career because we expect better from our representatives’ What on earth does she really mean?

First, she says we all need to spice up our lives with outside-of-marriage sex and it’s alright because it is private affair. Then she says the former health minister made a major (note major) mistake and ‘that we expect better from our representatives’.

Now who is being ‘holier than thou’? This muddled thinking is so typical of some Malaysians.

Anyway I have made my point. The rest of her letter is as senseless and illogical as Lingam's answers at the ongoing royal commission inquiry. Trying to defend the indefensible is a lost cause.

By the way not every doctor idol-worships the former health minister if the writer bothers to read letters to the newspapers. Some doctors hate his guts.

Many men are like James Bond - they are serial sex predators. They have the body of an adult but the mind of a child. Sex outside marriage is an emotional need for intimacy and reassurance of their manhood. Many buy sex with younger women. Some use their position and power. Some are addicted to drugs, some are addicted to the emotional high of doing it with someone other than their wives, even strangers. It is part of the high they get from doing something illicit.

Sin is always fun but always wrong and no matter how we dress it up, it is still a fundamental moral failing and the writer admits that. So what is she on about ‘a private affair’? Anything that is wrong is wrong whether in private or public.

But for the ex-health minister my advice is to do some serious soul-searching and learn something from his painful experience. Show some remorse for your wrong to your wife and family. Don't blame those who brought your downfall because those who do wrong cannot always cover up their sins forever.

I have not written off the man because every woman has the heart to forgive even though she is hurt and cannot forget. I only hope he will show his wife more love than before and get some help for his problem.

I hope he can come back again and help society because God forgives the sinner who repents. But how can we forgive anyone who has done wrong but still insist they are innocent like some of those clowns in the Lingam tape circus.
