Middle East peace plan lopsided
I refer to the letter Gaza: Malaysian condemnation unjustified by Hanan Leshnovolsky
Dear Hanan,
On behalf of most Malaysian Muslims, I say our prime minister is clearly not doing enough to represent our interests in ensuring Al-Aqsa Mosque's sanctity and that its population's sovereignty is protected. In fact, the prime minister, as chairman of the feel-good OIC, has even failed to exert any influence over Muslim leaders to take concrete steps to stop the Zionist massacres, let alone garner international public support for reclaiming the Palestinians' stolen land and dignity.
Why should you expect us to blame the al-Qaeda? They exist because of the wrongdoings supported by people like you, who use a twisted theological basis to deny the Palestinians their own homeland and deprive them of all basic human rights that one can think of.
Your government, faithfully and militarily backed by the most powerful nation on earth, poses a credible threat to world peace – peace which cradles the spirited will of the second-largest faith-based population on earth and which aims to protect the sanctity of its third holiest place and the multi-religious inhabitants there at all costs.
Malaysians are not so ignorant as to be duped by the pro-Zionist media. The news of the illegal blockade at Gaza was reported by the BBC. Even without the blockade, the number of poor Palestinians has tripled over the past two years. Currently, 79 percent of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip live below the poverty line.
Israelis are in full support of the extrajudicial and indiscriminate killings of suspected resistance fighters (read: innocent bystanders) by the Israel military in Gaza. Why do you not see that as terrorism? Do you not remember what your previous prime minister did to the late Yasser Arafat?
The hypocrisy of your leaders in crippling the PLO (which had been deceiving its own constituents by acting as the eyes and ears of Israel but ended up being betrayed by its own master) is what caused the Palestinians to vote in favor of the incorrigible Hamas.
All this continued in the face of the utter failure of any preventive action from both the Muslim world and the world's superpowers to avoid the horrible manslaughter at Jenin.
The world needs not to be lectured by Israel on humanity and equality, let alone world peace. The Zionist agenda itself is antithetical to world peace. In US President Bush's latest proposed Middle East plan, the Palestinians are to totally abandon their resistance to the invading Israelis, while the Israelis are asked only to halt their land-stealing activities without returning the land they have stolen before and after 1967.
The Israelis are able to keep their military might and continue killing Palestinians, be they resistance fighters or bystanders. How fair and lovely.
The world has been deluded into thinking that Israel has been making enough concessions in liberating Gaza to the Palestinians. Most Muslim nations choose to sideline Hamas, in favor of Fatah, for the Western-backed Middle East Peace Plan. The fact remains that Zionist oppression continues in both Gaza and the West Bank, despite the dismantlement of the Jewish settlements in Gaza.
The effect of the economic sanctions by the West on the democratically-elected Hamas government shows how weak Muslim nations are in honouring the dignity and sanctity of Al-Aqsa and its inhabitants. Throughout the Jenin massacre, the Lebanese invasion and the recently 'infrastructural oxygen' embargo of Gaza, the Muslim world stood by as if nothing was happening to their faithful brothers.
