In Dina Zaman's Eye Spy article, [#1]The young and the stupid[/#] (March 7), she said, "It seems that local engineering degrees have been shortened from the mandatory four years to three."

It is true that the previous Education Minister forced this upon us. But I would like to point out that the educational community as well as the engineering community lobbied for its reversal, and now under the current Education Minister, we have gone back to the four-year system.

Just sign me as "a lecturer from somewhere in Malaysia" - as we have seen from poor Prof Chia's case, lecturers have even less of freedom of speech in this country than other citizens. ([#2]Lecturer asked to show cause for Internet postings[/#], March 5)

You know, I would have voted for Barisan Nasional if they would only play fair. I think they are more competent to run the country than Barisan Alternatif. But as long as they are going to play dirty tricks and subvert democracy, I cannot support them.
