So what if it's true that George Soros funded malaysiakini directly or indirectly? So what if the US Embassy advertises in the online daily?

Malaysiakini has made available its accounts to the public when it is not required to under Malaysia laws. That it did so speaks for its ethics and integrity.

The US Embassy did not only advertise in malaysiakini, but also in the New Straits Times website. Only a week or so ago it co-sponsored with the Securities Commission a seminar on venture capital; does that make the SC guilty of receiving American money? Surely not. In fact, Mustapa Mohamed, adviser to the finance ministry, thanked the embassy for its support in his opening address at that seminar. Does that make the SC and Mustapa unpatriotic?

Malaysiakini has already put up a credible reply to the charges levied against it, including the clarification by the Far Eastern Economic Review. Period.
