(test - VG) A DAP leader has praised Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor for making three meaningful pledges
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor last night brought three meaningful commitments to the Chinese community, reflecting the Sabah Government’s recognition and high regard for its contributions.
At the invitation of the State Government, I joined Sdr Phoong Jin Zhe and others at the “Chief Minister’s Fellowship Dinner with the Chinese Community, Educational and Religious Organisations,” where we witnessed the handover of state allocations to vernacular schools and non-Islamic religious bodies.

At the invitation of the State Government, I joined Sdr Phoong Jin Zhe and others at the “Chief Minister’s Fellowship Dinner with the Chinese Community, Educational and Religious Organisations,” where we witnessed the handover of state allocations to vernacular schools and non-Islamic religious bodies.
The three announcements made by the Chief Minister are timely and significant. They embody the State Government’s vision for the next term and the shared consensus forged through the Sabah PH/DAP and GRS.
Over the past two years, we have engaged regularly with the Chief Minister on the needs and aspirations of Sabah’s Chinese community.
His latest decisions show that these proposals are being taken seriously, not only as a symbol of peaceful coexistence and equality in Sabah, but also as an important signal for national politics.
On UEC recognition, a major breakthrough has been achieved. UEC holders in Sabah are now eligible to pursue studies at state universities and to apply for Sabah Government scholarships with their results.
Annual funding for vernacular schools and non-Islamic organisations has also grown steadily. When I was an ADUN in 2013, the State Government provided RM32 million. This year, allocations have more than doubled, and by next year will increase further to RM90 million — triple the amount a decade ago.
We also welcome the Chief Minister’s pledge to appoint a Chinese leader as Deputy Chief Minister. After a five-year absence, this would restore Sabah’s long-standing cabinet tradition, ensuring representation of all communities and reaffirming the principle of equality.
The Sabah DAP strongly supports this agenda of equality for all. I am proud of Sabah and of the progress we are achieving together.
