Armed forces chief to appeal to PM for operational funds as procurement freeze bites

      BernamaPublished: Feb 4, 2026 7:04 PM

The armed forces will submit an application to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in his capacity as finance minister, regarding the release of procurement funds for the forces' operational expenditure.

Chief of Defence Force Malek Razak Sulaiman said that although the procurement freeze decided by the government last month is temporary in nature, the move has had a direct impact on the armed forces’ ongoing operations.

'Any prolonged delay could affect overall readiness.'
