Before you think there is any excitement and intrigue behind their arrest. There are none. They are not Pablo Escobar, nor are they an organised group.

They were an aunt and a niece. A holiday trip to Japan, booked through an unscrupulous travel agent, landed them in a bizarre Iranian transit option.

Cancellation requests are met with threats of “burning” their bookings, putting their hard-earned savings at risk.

Their vacation plan went from a happy flight to Japan to a ‘sunk-cost’ transit through Iran that cost them six years in Iran, and likely 19 more in Malaysia.

The family had to struggle to find...

"Our enforcement agencies have a quota of arrests to make." 1. Why should there be a quota of arrests to make? 2. What is the intent of this quota? There should be no excuse for drug related offence NOT to be arrested!! "At best, many of these individuals are low-level dealers caught with the bag of drugs they are peddling for others" THERE SHOULD BE NO EXCUSE FOR DRUG MULES IRRESPECTIVE THEY ARE LOW-LEVEL, HANDICAPPED OR WHAT EVER REASON "Throwing one of them or a thousand of them in prison or on death row makes no difference to the drug trade." says who? 117 killed and 37 boats of drugs smuggled from Venezuela destroyed in international waters(CNN Jan 24-2026) 2025 Year end crime statistics as reported in Fox News 31% increase in Fentanyl seized. If US keeps going at this rate, sooner, even the Mexican cartels will be attacked on land!! "Fundamentally, they are disposable pawns of a global trade order that can always find a thousand more couriers through dozens of methods and avenues." A very lame, lazy and stupid excuse from Dobby and Hayat. Drug lords are not bothered whether the people are disposable pawns or kings, queens or even presidents. They will use all means to trap people into smuggling drugs for them Dobby and Hayat should be very well aware, of how many Mexican journalists and authority heads have disappeared reporting and exposing the drug lords Even Claudia Sheinbaum is afraid to take action on the drug lords. The drug issue can be resolved if there is political will just like US under Trump.
