Reference is made to Najib Abdul Razak's recent statement that it is not necessary for the Anti-Corruption Agency to check on Umno because the party can be accountable for itself ([#1]No need yet for ACA to act on Umno: Najib[/#], Feb 27). Does Umno then possess that immunity against ACA?

In any election campaign, an important element high on the criteria list is integrity. We hear and read of money scandals pertaining to certain Umno and BN component officials, but sad to say, these people in high places have become the 'untouchables' for the ACA body. Often, after any election failure, the opposition will be blamed for 'exploiting certain issues'.

It is time to spend some time in deep reflection - wherein lies our integrity? True leaders lead by example, not just by mouthing 'aromatic' words!

Tax the rich to help the poor; our Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad made this profound statement in his keynote address on Hainan Island in China yesterday. Maybe we should try it out first in our 'Bolehland'.

If officials from Umno, Barisan Nasional component parties and the many 'good friends' of these officials were to be taxed, I sincerely believe there would be enough funds collected to help the needy Orang Asli community in Peninsular Malaysia and the indigenous peoples who are living in the remote jungles of Sabah and Sarawak.
