Expose the culprits behind your downfall, if there are any, urged MCA vice president Ong Tee Kiat to the fallen shining star of the party Dr Chua Soi Lek.

Only be revealing these perpetrators can Chua help identify the persons involved in secretly video-taping him in a compromising position with a woman, said Ong, who is also the deputy higher education minister.

“I read from the papers allegations made by Dr Chua about his political enemies, but there are no further details. I believe the public, including myself would like to know who the responsible people are.

“It is unfair for us to make wild guesses based on what he (Dr Chua) said.

“So I welcome it if he is willing to reveal who is behind all this. I like to know more details about this case,” Ong was quoted as saying by Bernama today.

Chua resigned as health minister and member of Parliament for Labis as well as all party posts on Wednesday, a day after admitting that the man in a sex video that was widely circulating in Johor, was him.

Subsequently he has claimed in media reports that his downfall was due to political rivalry. Yesterday he hold Malaysiakini that his detractors were baying for his complete destruction and not just his resignation.

Commenting on this, Ong said that by revealing more on the political rivalry aspect, Chua could put an end to any kind of negative political culture in the country.

“Let's make this a lesson for everyone. We need to address it before it develops into some kind of unhealthy political culture.”

“Anything bad must be weeded out,” said Ong.

Chua had a rapid rise in the national level politics after serving in the state level for about 30 years. He claimed that his shift to the federal level after the 2004 general election has seen many party leaders wrongly judging his hard work as his eagerness to reach the top in the party.

Whispering campaigns in the party had indicated that there has been a fallout between him and party president Ong Ka Ting and that he would challenge Ka Ting in the next party polls. Both of them have rejected claims of such a fallout.

Yesterday Ka Ting was appointed as the acting health minister.
