I shop at Carrefour at the Mid-Valley Megamall and some two months ago they started selling animals in the supermarket. They then proceeded to bring in four albino hedgehogs which were placed in a very small tank meant for reptiles.

The tank is about 1.5ft by 2ft. I have been watching them for a while now and have seen these gentle creatures worsen in condition. Their faces have turned black from the fact that they have no space to run about and so they are constantly being poked by the quills of their fellow hedgehogs.

There is blood and dirt on their backs and they are being fed on a diet which is obviously making them very ill. These four hedgehogs do not have long. They are listless, barely moving and still the management at Carrefour insists on selling them!

I am disgusted and appalled that these poor creatures are being sold with absolutely no regard to their health and safety. Speaking of health and safety, I find it very questionable that animals should be on sale at a supermarket to begin with.
