Johari: Umno should fear Malay disunity instead of DAP

"This is the politics of the future. We don’t need to be afraid of anyone. Why should we be afraid of DAP?
"If we were never afraid of MCA, Gerakan, or any other non-Malay-based party, why fear DAP?
"Ladies and gentlemen, what we should fear is when Malays fail to unite. That is why I welcome the idea thrown by the party president in his policy speech, to open Umno as a house of Malay unification,” he said.
Yesterday, Zahid, in his policy speech at the Umno general assembly, announced that the party will form a new committee dubbed the "Rumah Bangsa Unification Committee" to restore Malay political unity.
‘We can still contribute’
Johari, who is the investment, trade and industry minister, pointed out that the party's support had been declining over the years, and this led to losses in two successive general elections.
However, he told the delegates, Umno has to show the rakyat that it can still contribute to the country's stability despite the fact.
As an example, the Titiwangsa MP cited what happened with the government's proposal to introduce the Urban Renewal Bill.
According to Johari, Umno organised a convention to gather feedback on the bill from the Malays in Kuala Lumpur, whose resolution led to the bill being stalled.
