Slanted news on TV

Every day, RTM and TV3 are misleading the people by giving news that are slanted with concocted explanations. Reports of Umno blaming PAS for the failure in the so-called unity talks are not balanced with reports of why PAS is postponing it. PAS wanted a conducive situation (i.e. Umno, via the police, should not stop BA ceramah and the people's right to peaceful assembly and freedom of speech). Instead, Umno is telling the people that PAS leaders are not sincere.
A few days ago, the 'reports' tried to relate the killings in Central Kalimantan to street demonstrations, disregarding the real reasons why the two communities (the Maduras and Dayaks) were fighting each other. Through the media it controls, Umno is trying to put the fear of reformasi demonstrations in the people.
Demonstrations are important as it is the only way for the people to convey their protests against blunders committed by the government. Umno may say do it through 'proper channels', but, to quote Ghafar Baba, where is the proper channel when the majority of the people are not members of parliament or the Umno Supreme Council?
