Specialists at the National Heart Institute (IJN) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia advised the family that Mahathir should undergo a natural recovery process instead, he shared.
“Due to the status of his health, of course, it might take quite a while, involving perhaps two to three weeks of rest.
“Because of his age, which has reached 100, surgery is also not a good option,” the Pejuang president said from his party headquarters in a video published today.
“But the main purpose of this is to ensure that my father is able to return to normal so he can resume his duties.
“At the same time, I also urge everyone to ensure that he is given enough time to rest and recover completely,” Mukhriz added.
Yesterday, the former premier was taken to IJN in Kuala Lumpur, after he sustained a fall at his residence in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.
His aide, Sufi Yusoff, confirmed to the media that Mahathir would require several weeks of hospitalisation for treatment and observation.
He explained that the incident happened about 9am when Mahathir was "transiting" from the balcony to the living room, with the centenarian remaining conscious.
