Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is expected to announce a new list of his cabinet members and deputy ministers this evening, according to sources who hinted that this round of reshuffling would see some “major changes”.

The sources close to the Madani government claimed Anwar presented the new lineup to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, when he had an audience with the king this morning.

Photos from the meeting at Istana Bukit Tunku in Kuala Lumpur were posted on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook account at around noon.

A source close to Pakatan Harapan’s top leaders claimed Anwar might make the announcement at about 4pm, while another source, who is close to the federal administration, said it could be later in the evening.

One source claimed the reshuffle would see at least three deputy ministers from Harapan promoted into the cabinet, while one minister holding a very important portfolio is going to be moved to another ministry.

“The three are R Ramanan, Akmal (Nasir), and Adam (Adli),” said the party insider, referring to the deputy ministers who were said would be made full cabinet members.

Ramanan is with the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry, Akmal is in the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry, while Adam is in the Youth and Sports Ministry.

It was not clear if the three are going to become ministers for other portfolios, but another source hinted they might be promoted within their respective ministries.

One of the sources also claimed that Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail could be one of the cabinet members to change portfolios.

The source close to the government claimed that the reshuffle might also see several new faces.

“Some might be promoted (from deputy minister level), while some (portfolios) might see new faces,” the official said.
